Google Now is arguably Android’s greatest weapon in the operating system tug of war between Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile.
Harnessing the power of Big Data and predictive analytics, Google Now is a PA in your pocket, producing helpful, unprompted alerts and reminders which it creates by analysing the results of your search and browsing data, and by harvesting details like flight information, travel itineraries, and shipping orders from your inbox.
One of the most popular functions of Google Now is its ability to analyse GPS data from your phone over the course of a few days, and automatically determining where you work and where you live, and serving unprompted traffic reports for your daily commute 10 minutes prior to your usual departure time.
It’s partly creepy, but mostly awesome.
But according to a video dropped on to YouTube last night, Google Now may be launching on iOS.
Engadget has more:
The video has since been pulled from YouTube and appears to feature the same voice actress as the original Now announcement (which you’ll also find after the break for comparison). Supposedly, Now will be accessible in an upcoming iOS app update simply by swiping up from the main screen. Of course, there’s always the chance that is an impressive fake or even a canceled project that’s only being leaked now.
We live in hope.
