In this week’s show, Phillip de Wet and Deshnee Subramany discussed the thorny issue of political party funding in South Africa, including allegations from legal experts that the ANC may be acting unconstitutionally by accepting party funding.
The hosts also chatted about the Mail & Guardian’s story on Moeletsi Mbeki’s bitter tussle over his mansion in Dainfern with reporter Zarina Geloo, before turning their attention to the on-going hiring, firing and resigning of SABC board members. The latest to leave are SABC Chairman Ben Ngubane and his deputy Thami ka Plaatjie.
The show then took a trip down Sillicone Alley with Mail & Guardian Online editor, Chris Roper and GM for Digital Platforms, Alistair Fairweather who shared their experience at the South by Southwest conference taking place in Texas, United States.
In this week’s culture beat, the presenters spoke to their Movies Editor, Shaun de Waal on how lucrative the South African movie industry is and what local film you should be watching this week.
Our favourite feature, the Weekly Choon, was Secret Police by Fuzigish, played in dedication to the late President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez.
