Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez, has reportedly died. He was officially brain dead as of the 30 December 2012, and has allegedly been dead for four days. The politician had been struggling with cancer for a while and his condition had not improved, which was reported by the Venezuelan Governement less than a week ago.
The news was aired on CNN Chile by their Panamanian source, Guillermo Cochez. Cochez was also the only journalist to report that Chavez was brain dead as of 30 December 2012 and that Chavez’es daughter had finally pulled the plug. Cochez told CNN Chile:
I challenge the Venezuelan government to prove me wrong, and to present President Chávez so that it’s known whether what I say is the truth or a lie.
This was reported by a Venezuelan journalist, when asked if the nation was prepared for the news:
Not at all, people who can read the political news can be but most people do not, hence the opposition goes on to say that everything is a braid, the people Chavez want to be told what happened to his Commander President, some say he has died, I have learned that on December 30 was the first death, brain death.
Fact or fiction? CNN Chile is the only outlet that has picked up the story and the Venezuelan Government has been mum regarding Chavez.
