At least 33 people were injured at a NASCAR race at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, when a car flew into the fence of the track. The pile-up was triggered by the leading driver, Regan Smith when he tried to block Brad Keselowski from winning. Justin Allgaier, a driver said, “Just seeing the carnage on the racetrack, it was truly unbelievable.”
The 12-car crash started 200 feet from the start-finish line while cars were approaching the checkered flag in the final lap of the race.
Track workers worked feverishly into the night to repair the fence for the upcoming Daytona 500.
