Downhill skater, Dec’io Lourenc’o, will not be prosecuted according to Cape Town traffic enforcement. This is a far cry from the words of JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, and his response to Lourenc’o’s “reckless and negligent” behaviour captured in YouTube videos filmed on Kloof Road and the Glen to Clifton.
Why? The videos cannot be used as evidence, said City traffic spokeswoman Merle Lourens, contrary to the comments made by JP Smith in his interview with 2oceansvibe.
Smith said yesterday that “the matter was now out of my hands and was the responsibility of city officials.”
Since his name made it into mainstream media, the number of views of his “Spoofing The Cam” video on YouTube has rocketed to 1,2 million.
