That’s correct, it’s called the Harlem Shake. And it’s a thing.
And boy, has it escalated quickly.
The Harlem Shake is a dance style developed in New York, and involves lifting one shoulder, pivoting, and lifting the opposite shoulder in quick succession. Thus:
Electronic musician, Bauuer published his “Harlem Shake” track in May of 2012.
On January 30th, 2013, video blogger Filthy_Frank uploaded an episode that opens with https://alwaysvaltrexonline.com four people dressed in latex suits dancing to Baauer’s “Harlem Shake.”
The finished meme product begins with a masked individual doing the Harlem Shake alone in a group before suddenly cutting to a wild dance party featuring the entire group.
And here’s how it escalated. You’ll notice the office space of a certain Cape Town ad agency at the tale end there.
