Finally, the world’s first point-and-shoot 3D camera! While it’s not a conventional camera, if you can use a point-and-shoot Nikon we are told that you’ll find the Lynx even easier to use. Instead of 2D images, the ‘Lynx A’ produces 3D models of whatever you point it at.
Although it’s the size of a laptop – remember cellphones started out bulky too – it’s apparently light and handled much like a tablet. With its 640×480 color camera, 3D sensor, 14″ color LCD screen and joystick for easy navigation, the Lynx A device has a powerful graphics card for capture and render, and high-capacity storage. Again the battery is much like a typical smart phone, lasting only four hours at a time. But who cares? You can take a picture of your macaroon, IN 3D! With a 360-degrees sweeping movement, your picture will pop out at you.
You have three features to select from: scene modeling, object modeling, and motion capture for animation. This sounds like something that architects and animators are going to beg, borrow and steal for!
Who can use the Lynx Camera?
Anyone who wants or needs 3D content like architectural surveyors, VFX artists and video game engineers need a Lynx A. And you, you need a Lynx A.
What makes it different?
It’s fully handheld and mobile.
It’s low cost in comparision to other 3D scanners so more people can use this technology than ever before.
It captures models within minutes.
The models produced by the Lynx A are realistic as it captures the true dimensions of environments and objects in meters, so they are easy to measure and analyze.
Time is money and this camera saves both!
Currently, Lynx A is seeking funding on Kickstarter. Anyone out there with some cash? We’d love our avatars in 3D!
