Look, we can’t fault Microsoft for trying, and they seem to have pulled off a cool advert. But whether that will make any difference as to whether you actually want to use Internet Explorer or not, remains the unanswered question.
“You grew up. So did we. Reconnect with the new Internet Explorer,” reads the by-line of the YouTube video caption for the new Internet Explorer.
“You might not remember us, but we met in the ’90’s. We are members of Generation Y. As in Ying Yang, yo-yo … life moved a little slower. Disks were square, desktop folders had personality and extra storage space was just a zipper away. There was only one social network, but most of your friends died of dysentery,” it continues.
Dysentery is the ironic bit – because Internet Explorer is a bit like dysentery – it washed away many years ago. And it will be very difficult to get people to want to switch back from their current browsers to Internet Explorer.
