Things are not going well in Salsolburg. So far two people have died, and nine others seriously injured during this week’s violent protests.
Residents of the Zamdela township started protesting on Sunday in opposition to the proposed merger, in 2016, of the Matsimaholo municipality in Sasolburg with the Ngwathe municipality near Parys.
This quickly escalated into violence and looting. According to the Free State Police, 200 people have so far been arrested.
News24 is reporting that rioting residents in the Zamdela township are now calling for revolutionary leader Julius Malema to come and join their cause. Check out the footage below.
We want Juju to come and help us. We want Juju to come intervene.
