The discovery of a giant decapitated crocodile’s head on St. Lucia beach has sparked fears that a huge shark might be on the prowl.
Neale and Brigitte Cary-Smith made the discovery during a walk with their dogs on the beach. They filmed the incident, and the video can be seen below.
As you’ll hear from Neale’s commentary, the crocodile is estimated to have been approximately 3,5m long, with his head weighing 54kg’s! Neale believes the reptile was set upon by a shark after swimming down river and entering the sea.
You can see where the shark has actually ripped it. On the side here in the flesh you can see the shark teeth. It’s quite usual for sharks to swim here in the sea at St Lucia and it’s also very normal for very large sharks to be very close to the shore.
Local experts have suggested that only a Great White shark could have severed the head so cleanly.
The story has even made international headlines, with Huffington Post, Daily Mail, and The Sun all picking it up.
