So while we are advised to listen and do what cops tell us, a new statement made by national crime forum, eBlockwatch, maintains that cops might plant drugs in your car when you step out for a breathalyser. This following the Audi R8 crash in Sandton.
According to EWN:
JOHANNESBURG – eBlockwatch on Monday warned motorists to be extra vigilant following several reports of drugs allegedly being planted by police officers.
The warning comes after a Lenasia man crashed his Audi R8 in Rosebank, Johannesburg, last week, killing himself and a police officer who was in the passenger seat.
Police claim the man had been caught with dagga in his car during a search on Grayston Drive in Sandton.
But speculation continues about why the officer was driving with him from Sandton to Rosebank, and there have been allegations that drugs were planted inside the vehicle.
eBlockwatch’s spokesperson Andre Snyman said they had received several similar reports of drugs being planted in cars. He urged motorists to take every precaution.
“Make sure your windows are closed when you step out to do a breathalyser so nobody can plant anything in the car without you knowing.”

That’s quite a predicament you’re putting us in. We have to listen to what the police tell us, but we must keep an eye on them at the same time?
