The New York Times has once again compiled their annual video montage, featuring a sampling of songs by artists who died during 2012.
The video can be seen below, and while a lot of the names will appear unfamiliar to you at first, you’ll no doubt instantly recognise most of the songs these people were responsible for.
The compilation is a sobering reminder of all the great spirits the world of music lost this year. Apart from big names such as Whitney Houston, Donna Summer, Ravi Shankar, and Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, we love the representations from several other genres as well.
Keep a particular eye out for jazz genius Dave Brubeck, bluegrass pioneer Earl Scruggs, and former Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch.
