But what do Hotel guests really want when they choose and check in to a hotel or guest house?
GO Airport Express have just completed a study of guest what is their favourite freebie, a 57% rating said “Free WiFi”.
A free breakfast is now regarded as standard, as is a clean room, decent bed and toiletry amenities. Don’t provide these and the guest establishment does not leave the starting grid.
After the free WiFi, rated at 30% is “free transportation between airport and hotel”; in-room coffee and tea (25%); health club and pool (17%) and a complimentary newspaper bringing up the rear (after all, if you have WiFi, why do you need a newspaper?).
Other random mentions were free snacks, umbrellas, bathrobes, and an ironing board. Unsurprisingly, rated last was the provision of bicycles for guests!
“To-day’s travellers are increasingly more savvyand are demanding more from their choice of lodging.” Says John McCarthy, CEO of GO Airport Express. “In order to differentiate from other properties and build loyalty, hotels (and guest houses) need to be responsive to traveller needs in their offered amenities.”
