This, from nydailynews:
The odds are good that Kate and William will name their firstborn after Queen Elizabeth if it’s a girl.
So says the online betting outfit Ladbrokes, which on Monday made the name Elizabeth the 8-1 favorite for a royal princess.
“Kate and Wills pulled the wool over our eyes, but now attention turns to the name of the baby and it looks like the couple will stick with a traditional name,” said Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes. “If they’re expecting a girl, who better to name her after than Her Majesty?”
Also in the running is Diana, as in William’s mom, the late Princess Diana. The odds of her name being picked are 12-1, according to Ladbrokes.
If it’s a boy, John (the name of William’s maternal grandfather) and Charles (William’s dad, the prince) are the 10-1 favorites, Bridge said.
George and Mary, both names of former English monarchs, are contenders at 14-1. So is David, at 20-1, as in the soccer star Beckham.
British bookmaker William Hill ranked Frances (the name of William’s maternal grandmother) and John as the 9-1 favorites, followed by Charles, George and Victoria, all at 10-1.
Diana was next, followed by other names with royal pedigrees like Phillip, Anne, Richard and Spencer.
The Dublin-based Paddy Power betting agency is laying 8-1 odds the duke and duchess of Cambridge will name their spawn Mary, John or Victoria.
The chances of the couple naming their baby after William’s stepmother, Camilla (66-1) or Fergie (250-1), as in Sarah Ferguson, the feckless former wife of Prince Andrew, were considerably longer.
