Browsing the list, it would appear that things have gone and taken a bit of a more traditional turn this year. Aiden won boys, and Sophia girls, but there are definitely some good normal names doing the rounds.
The data for the name list is collected historically for comparison, and this year nearly half a million people told the Baby Center what they had decided on name wise.
Ethan, Liam and Noah followed Aiden closely, and “Jack broke into the top 10”. There were four boy names beginning with J in the top 10, making it by far the most popular starting point for parents.
Says Baby Center:
Mia danced onto the girls’ top 10 list this year, striking a pose at number 9. Abigail lost her grip on the number 10 position she held last year and slid down to number 14. To capture true popularity, our exclusive baby names list combines names that sound the same but have multiple spellings (like Sophia or Sofia).
