Professor Patrick Bouic was in the 2oceansvibe Radio studio last week on the Just Josie Show for the Buchulife Health Watch. He discussed the the very real danger presented to our health by fast food.
These days, the frequency at which most young people consume fast food is frightening. And let’s face it, although it may seem delicious at the time, we are all aware of the implications of putting totally refined, nutritionally depleted food containing all the wrong fats, into your body.
According to the Professor, we’re seeing a rise in many new diseases such as insulin resistance, heart disease in younger age groups and obesity in children.
Fast foods are high glycemic index foods which fill you quickly, spike your insulin and cause you to crash a short while after. This is when you start craving sugar, because you’ve depleted your glycemic control in your blood – something you really shouldn’t be messing with.
In the podcast below, Professor Patrick Bouic tells us why we shouldn’t be eating on the go, if we should be supplementing the vitamins and minerals we fall short on, and why we seem to have such a strong dependence on junk food.
