Bitcoin is a fast-growing digital currency that can be used to buy anything from electronics to cupcakes online. What makes it unique is the fact that there is no central issuer. Instead, a peer-to-peer network regulates Bitcoins’ balances, transactions and issuance according to consensus in network software.
Bitcoins can be earned through various tasks, including the selling of items online, taking part in surveys, offering Internet support, and donations. Once you’ve earned some Bitcoins, there are several places online where you can go and spend your money.
But the parallels between virtual and real money does not stop there. It would seem that, just like with actual money, the world’s oldest profession can also be used to earn currency.
GirlsGoneBitcoin allows users — predominately female and young — to strip on camera in exchange for some Bitcoins. Most posts in this section feature a tease photo of a young lady, along with her Bitcoin address (example above). To see more, a user logs into the Bitcoin website, enters the lady’s address, and their bank card is debited based on that day’s exchange rate.
So how much exactly is Bitcoin worth in real-time money? Turns out quite a lot! As of this morning, one Bitcoin was valued at R98,15. And it seems people are not shy to spend that – and more. According to one of the girls, a young lady named Small4All, she makes on average four to five Bitcoins per post. She then sends the client a link to where he can see the rest of what she’s got to offer.
It’s really fun. I get to make about R440 a day. Some of us girls have an IRC channel where we trade good customers info and help each other out. It’s great.
