Brie Lybrand is a former beauty pageant contestant with her own YouTube channel, called The New Orleans Beauty Guru. But her latest upload is very different from her usual upbeat beauty tutorials, and is truly heartbreaking to watch.

The video, uploaded a week ago, can be seen below. Titled “A Message To My Rapist”. Lybrand starts off by explaining that she received an email from YouTube saying that the man who raped her for most of her life recently subscribed to her YouTube channel. Shen then reveals that this man is also her father, before going into detail about what he did to their family.

The man that took my virginity, robbed me of an innocence, has subscribed to me on YouTube and is watching my videos. My father, Steven Bressler, molested, tortured and raped me from the time I was four until I was 13 years old.

As the video progresses, Lybrand describes how she grew up to become her high school’s cheerleading captain, went to college and became both an actor and a teacher – all despite her father’s abuse. But one of the most shocking visuals of the clip sees her display three guns she’s purchased for protection.

I don’t have to be afraid anymore. Let me show you my weapon collection, dad. I carry guns everywhere I go in case you decide to show up… You’re never going to touch me again.

The 12-minute long video first caught the media’s attention after gaining popularity on Reddit. It has since been viewed 185 000 times.
