It’s been a week since Heineken announced that they will be bringing the Skyfall Bond girl – Bérénice Marlohe – to South African shores for the South African premiere of the film on 22 November. Apart from being delightfully French, Bérénice is also the face of Heineken’s Crack the Case campaign.
Bérénice, who plays the part of Severine in Skyfall, has never visited South Africa before. Having previously only appeared in French television roles, Skyfall is her first starring role in a major blockbuster movie.
Heineken marketing manager, Tjeerd Veldhuis, reckons that Heineken owed it to South African Bond fans to bring Bérénice to our shores in the flesh. We couldn’t agree more, Tjeerd.
The local Crack the Case campaign forms part of a wider global Heineken campaign linked to the James Bond franchise – a relationship that you as a Bond fan should be familiar with by now. A frosty Heineken has been Bond’s beer of choice for the last 15 years, in six consecutive Bond flicks, including ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’, ‘The World is Not Enough’, ‘Die Another Day’, ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Quantum of Solace’. In addition to some fairly awesome Heineken product placement in Skyfall, the campaign has also seen the launch of Heineken’s latest TV advertisement which stars Marlohe and Daniel Craig himself.
