The Fresh Prince is back! Recently, while at a celebrity friend’s birthday party, Will Smith took up the mic for the first in years and broke into a freestyle rap. Backed by the party’s official entertainer, Doug E. Fresh, Smith proceeds to steal the show and later teaches the crowd a very special dance.
The occasion was fellow Hollywood star Gabrielle Union’s 40th birthday party, held in Miami. Considering Smith’s iconic celebrity status, it’s no surprise that party-goers didn’t mind when he took the stage.
After his impromptu freestyle, he also performed a rendition of Summertime (starts at 2:30) and then reprised the theme song of his much-loved sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (starts at 3:41).
In another video, also taken at the party, Smith and Doug E. Fresh show party guests the “orginal, blueprint” version of “The Dougie” – the much loved dance popularised by Lil’ Wil, which was actually created by Fresh himself in the 1980s. Enjoy.
