The latest inductee to the 2oceansvibe Boss Hall Of Fame is none other than a beer downing boss, but, the boss might not want to replicate his achievement with the “world’s strongest beer”.
Taking things to the next level, the appropriately named Armageddon, is brewed by Brewmeister, and has an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 65%.
According to their website:
Despite being 65%, this beer has lots of flavour. It’s slightly sweet, hoppy, malty and retains much of the yeast present during fermentation.
Bottles are conditioned but we recommend people drink this in 35ml measures. So drink with friends to save it going flat.
Ingredients include crystal malt, wheat, flaked oats and of course 100% Scottish spring water. We then freeze ferment the beer to bring up the ABV. Consume this like a fine whisky.
Be careful though, smelling it is probably enough to put you over the limit!
You can buy it online here, but be prepared to wait quite a while for your delivery because over in the UK, there is already a two-week waiting period for local deliveries.
Oh, and if you thought you were paying a lot for some of the less mainstream beers locally, one of these guy’s will set you back about R560, for a 330ml bottle.
Brewmeister’s Armageddon took the new number one position from an equally aptly named Belgian ale with a 55% ABV – The End of History.
Brewmeister founder Lewis Shand:
‘Delivers a punch’ doesn’t quite cut it. “Delivers a supersonic-charged explosion and conveys the taster to Drunksville is probably more appropriate. In some respects, it is closer to a liqueur than a beer, but it is classified as a beer and we are pleased with it.
