It would be safe to deduce that Prince Harry’s adventures in Las Vegas and the happy snaps to go with it would have given the city of sin some good publicity. Exactly how much though? The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority crunched some numbers and have come up with a number.
As it turns out, a naked Prince Harry is worth about $23 million dollars to the Las Vegas tourism industry. Basing this value on the estimated 154 million people that have seen a naked picture of Harry (or put differently, about 2 million a day in the three months since the incident), the LVCVA has estimated that local businesses have benefitted from roughly $23 million.
The timing was pretty good too – Harry’s photos hit the tabloids just after the launch of a new campaign to boost tourism. The new campaign, known as “Know the Code,” relies heavily on the infamous “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” slogan. Harry’s pictures saw a big spike in the city’s revenues. Speaking for the LVCVA, its chairman said:
God bless Prince Harry. He made us a bunch of money.
No trips to Las Vegas for Harry for the foreseeable future though. He’s currently in the Middle East, serving for the British Army. The Royal Family has continued remaining shtum on the matter, as well as Kate’s difficulty in keeping her bikini on.
