A 20m bronze sculpture of a naked pregnant woman, wielding a sword, by well-known artist Damien Hirst has arrived in Devon in England.
The new Hirst statue is called Verity, and is described by the artist as a “modern allegory of truth and justice”. It arrived on the back of a lorry, and will be on loan to the resort of Ilfracombe for the next 20 years. Because of the height of the structure, it has also been subjected to wind tunnel testing in order to ensure that it can withstand high winds and sea spray.
