It was only a matter of time before Nokia jumped on the versus-Apple bandwagon now that their new flagship, the Lumia 920, is all but on the shelves. Instead of launching into a drawn-out tirade concerning specs and features, they focused on small aspects that could actually make all the difference.
When it comes down to it, the flagship models from Apple, Android and Nokia (Windows Phone) really aren’t all that different, sure one has a slightly better screen, the other has a minutely more impressive camera and another runs a fraction of a second faster, but ultimately they are more or less different incarnations of the same thing. Which is exactly why Nokia’s new ad works.
It doesn’t get caught up with incremental differences which only matter when any device is really pushed to its limits, and which only really matter to hardcore users. Instead it points out its major advantage over the competition – colour variety within the range, the type of thing that could make all the difference to the everyday user. The “5” in the ad is a not-so-subtle dig at Apple’s latest device, which is only available in black or white. The Lumia 920 will be available in black, white, grey, red and yellow.
What do you reckon? Is this the type of feature that could make all the difference?
