Remember when we told you all about that girl who asked Chad le Clos to her matric dance? I personally thought that he would find some prior engagement to drop at the last minute, but I was wrong. Good guy Le Clos delivered, making one girl’s night in Boksburg unforgettable.

Melanie Olhaus said that her dream came true when Chad agreed to take her back in the middle of August. Asked back then how she felt, and what they would talk about, she said the following:

I cried when he said yes. I still can’t believe it. He’s gorgeous and so cute. Nobody else is allowed to dance with him … he’s mine for the evening.

Her weekend started with a day of primping and preening – getting everything perfect for her big night. She headed to her dance wearing a dark blue and gold Gert-Johan Coetzee dress, and Chad had a Pierre Cardin suit made specially for the occasion.

As soon as they arrived at the hotel the bulbs started flashing, with many photographers keeping the couple posing outside. Once inside, this continued as all her school friend’s wanted to get a picture with the Olympic medalist.

It was even more wonderful than I expected. I felt like a celebrity.

According to Olhaus, Chad was a “true gentleman,” adding “he’s also a very good dancer.” They headed to two afterparties, before Chad dropped her at home around 02h00. Le Clos headed to Dubai for a swimming tournament in Dubai the next day.
