Poor Tom Cruise. It seems he might be facing a crisis of faith because Scientology leaders are trying to force him to choose between his religion and his daughter.
The 50-year-old actor hasn’t seen Suri, six, for seven weeks now and sources within the church blame Tom’s extended absence on church leaders, who are said to be pressuring the actor to distance himself from his daughter now that she is no longer being raised as a Scientologist.
As we all all know, Tom has been one of the bizarre religion’s most outspoken supporters for a long time, but friends say the church’s stance on Suri has him questioning his beliefs.
A source told the current issue of Star magazine:
Tom hasn’t admitted that he’s definitely leaving Scientology for good, but he’s distanced himself from those in the church and has been hanging out with good friends who aren’t part of the religion.
Apparently Tom has also been reflecting on things since his recent divorce from Katie Holmes, Suri’s mum.
It’s understood Tom has realised there have been various impacts on his life, on his personal relationships and his beloved public image because of Scientology.
He’s finally seeing that being such an advocate for Scientology hasn’t served him as well as he’d hoped — he’s gone through three divorces, and his public perception has sunk to an all-time low.
But Tom’s colleagues blame his work, not Scientology, for his recent absence from Suri’s life.
His lawyer, Bert Fields, dismissed the claims completely:
This has absolutely nothing to do with Scientology. This is something that’s been going on her whole life — when Tom is shooting new film out of the country, he has to rely on the telephone.
Please Tom, think of Suri.
