Embarrassing. That seems to be the overall consensus after RIM uploaded this video to their YouTube page yesterday. Addressing prospective developers, it aims to showcase all the cool new features of the Blackberry 10 – by having a couple of dads pretend to be rockstars.
Popular website, Gizmodo, afterwards even wrote an article under the title “This is why RIM is going down.”
Here is the message posted along with the video:
We are going to keep loving developers at Research In Motion, all the way to BlackBerry 10 and beyond. Watch our leadership team for developer relations bring back the band: Alec Saunders, VP Developer Relations & Ecosystem, Chris Smith, VP Application Platform & Tools, and Martyn Mallick, VP Global Alliances & Business. Thank you to those devs who are working hard, and for those jumping on board every day.
Watch the full advert below. By the way, is it just me, or was the soundtrack heavily influenced by Phil Collins?
[Update: We have since learned from one of our readers that the song the RIM staffers are rocking out to, is REO Speedwagon’s “Keep on loving you”]
