Cassandra Bankson is a 19-year-old Californian girl. Unfortunately, genetics blessed her with rather awful acne, so bad that she stopped attending school because of the constant bullying. So she did what I suppose any girl in the same position would have done – she made a YouTube video.

Under the username diamondsandheels14, she posted a video showing girls just like her how to hide their acne using makeup. The rest, as they say, is history. She sought the help of a dermatologist, conquering her skin disease – and ultimately leading her all the way to New York.

The size four beauty will be modeling for Boy Meets Girl in their spring and summer collections, and has also netted other deals with Land Rover and Bebe.

Speaking about her opportunity, she said:

It feels like a dream to be here during Fashion Week… I am a different person from who I used to be because I’ve got so much more confidence now.

Asked what she would like to do with herself now that she has her newfound fame, she says that she would love to have her own skin care range, now that she’s become a bit of an expert herself.
