Ever dreamt of vicariously playing instruments with a large, black bodybuilder’s muscles? Well dream no more! Thanks to Old Spice and Terry Crews that day has come, we present to you: “Muscle Music”.
The latest in a string of hit-generating ads from Old Spice, with Muscle Music the prominent brand has taken things a step further and invited users to join in on the fun. The slice of awesome was no mean feat though, and came as a result of the collaboration between Old Spice, Wieden+Kennedy, director Tom Kuntz of MJZ, Mackenzie Cutler, The Mill and Vimeo.
The ad itself is great and sees Crews playing instruments using only his muscles. It’s kind of what we’ve come to expect from the guys who brought us “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like”, which is probably why they decided to take things to the next level. Exactly how did they do that? They’ve put the power in your hands. Once you’ve watched the video, in which Crews showcases both his muscle-clad body and his extraordinary musical talents, you can digitally take control of his body and have go at slapping together a mini-masterpiece. Or, in the words of Crews himself:
Watch me jam solo, then use the special interactive player to record your own remix. Go ahead, show me what you got!
Best part, once you’ve familiarised yourself with the controls you can record (the record button replaces the play button once you start jamming) your amazing mix and share it with your mates on the interwebs, immense!
