A few days ago, retired college biology professor, Bill Bouton, headed to San Luis Obispo, California, to snap some pics of some of his favourite subjects, birds. However, he stumbled on something considerably bigger, and decidedly less aerial.
Bouton captured some amazing images of a Humpback Whale breaching the surface in between paddlers, sailors and throngs of seabirds in the Port San Luis Harbour. According to Mashable, he used “a 700mm lens on his Canon EOS 7D” to capture the amazing shots.
A pair of women in kayaks also got in on the action and recorded some amateur footage of their close encounter.
Despite its proximity to the water-going folks, no one was injured as people, smartly, kept a safe distance from the feeding whale.
