A new study commissioned by inMobi, an industry research group, has revealed that a massive 70% of South Africans are unhappy with their cellphone providers. It’s not all about the prices either.
Only 17% percent of cellphone consumers are moaning about the price of the service. The majority of complaints are the following:
The research also suggested that up to a third of cellphone users would consider changing providers if they provided better data coverage, which may put Cell C in an advantageous position given its news this morning of slashing data rates. Up to 46% would switch based purely on a better deal.
The network that came out on top with callers is Vodacom, scoring 57% for customer service, 60% for network coverage, and 42% for value. Telkom’s 8ta did not even make the list.
The need for data is increasing as more and more consumers move to smartphones, which is placing additional strain on South Africa’s mobile networks.
