Late last month, a group of musicians stood accused of stealing a MacBook Pro in the Cape Town vicinity. We decided to get them into the 2oceansVibe Radio studio in Cape Town, and on air, to give their side of the story.
On Tuesday afternoon, Wakhile Xhalisa and Raymond “Ricky” Bushula came into the 2oceansVibe Radio studio in Cape Town to join Jamie Saint and myself to set the record straight about their involvement in the case of that stolen MacBook Pro.
The two are members of a local reggae band called Ghetto Sound, also known as Azania.
Wakhile plays bass, and Ricky plays keyboard. The band has travelled extensively and Wakhile himself spent around 10 years out of South Africa perfecting his skills and gaining experience.
The band recorded and co-produced an album with Vivian Jones called Tribute to Gugulethu Seven, and they will be bringing Judy Boucher out to South Africa later this year too. Ghetto Sound have also played alongside the likes of world-renowned reggae band, The Congos, in Réunion Island in April.
Catch the interview, and one of their catchy melodies – True Born Rastaman – in the podcast below.
Check out the Ghetto Sound Facebook page for more information about the band.
