Dozens of men were protesting in Hillbrow, Johannesburg this morning – chanting slogans such as “say no to men abuse”, and, “if we start fighting abuse against men, we are putting a stop to all forms of human abuses.”
They claim that they are doing this in a bid to seek protection from their abusive wives, who beat them at home on regular occasions. The march was joined by children who had seen their mothers abusing their fathers, and by women whose brothers were being abused by their wives.
Moshate Men’s Right Organisation spokesperson CEO Nashilo Mnisi told The New Age newspaper:
“Women are increasingly becoming more abusive towards men. We have a database of men who have been abused from all social classes, including pastors, men from informal settlements and medium-to-low density suburbs. Research shows that some situations have boiled over and men killed their families because their wives had been abusing them for a very long time.
