Viral videos are where it’s at these days, try think of brand that’s managed to hold your attention for more than a fleeting moment without using one. Came up blank? Me too. Now imagine being on the other side of the fence and trying to come up with said, amazing video. Still blank? Fear not, August’s Viral Video Concept Generator has got you covered.
Creative online video agency, August have launched a rather nifty little project, a Viral Video Concept Generator. Their site, I Need A Viral Video, automatically generates a title for a video that will undoubtedly become viral. In theory, it’s quite simple, you click the “generate” icon and a concept is created from countless random YouTube videos which have received ridiculously high views. Please note, it generates a concept, not a video eg. “Hugest Dog Ever Dances Like Michael Jackson” or “Britney Spears Lookalike Has A Dance-Off With A Parrot”. You follow? Good.
The project pokes fun at the ongoing infatuation the marketing world has with viral videos, and how little control they actually have over which videos will be successful or not.
The message and intention of the site is to highlight the lack of control there is over what videos rack up millions of views. Instead, brands should concentrate on producing quality content that engages with the
viewer, content that entertains their target audience rather than trying to be the next viral hit.
Ah, now you see what they did there. Why don’t you head on over to their site and take a stab at it yourself, it’s actually rather fun. We can only hope that someone takes the generator all too literally and creates a video based on the prompts given.
Thanks David!
