It hasn’t been a good time for the SABC. They’ve lost a studio in a fire, and their agreement with SuperSport to broadcast international rugby matches has come to an end. Could the “delayed live” broadcasting of international rugby be handed over to another free-to-air broadcaster?
According to a report by Sport24, the rights to the delayed live broadcasting are not owned by the SABC, who engaged with SuperSport on an ad hoc basis. This means that ETV could be taking over, bringing rugby to those that haven’t surrendered their souls to MultiChoice.
SuperSport communications manager, Clinton van der Berg, said that an offer has been made to ETV for the broadcasting of the games, and that they are awaiting a response.
