British Prime Minister, David Cameron, left his eldest daughter, Nancy, at a pub following a Sunday lunch. It happened after a mix-up with his wife Samantha, Downing Street has admitted. The couple only realised their daughter was missing when they got home.
The couple’s 8-year-old daughter, Nancy, had wandered off to the toilets while the Cameron’s were arranging lifts to go home.
But both David and Samantha left the Plough separately, thinking the other had Nancy in their care.
Alas, this was not the case, and the high-profile couple – normally very good with their children – only realised she was not with them when they got home.
The Prime Minister immediately rushed back to the Plough, where he promptly found Nancy helping the staff.
A Downing Street spokesman said:
The prime minister and Samantha were distraught when they realised Nancy wasn’t with them. Thankfully when they phoned the pub she was there safe and well. The prime minister went down straight away to get her.
The Sun quoted a Plough insider:
You’d have thought someone would have done a headcount or something. Pub staff found their daughter in the toilet and didn’t know what to do.
It’s not like you can look up David Cameron in the phone book and then ring to say, ‘You’ve left your daughter behind’.
It’s frightening the prime minister of Britain can forget something so important as his own daughter.
The incident happened a few months ago, but is still terribly embarrassing, even though Nancy was only away from her parents for about 15 minutes.
Lindsay Williams and Richard Hardiman, from 2oceansVibe Radio’s HardWilli In The Morning, called the Plough Inn in Cadsden, earlier.
Unfortunately the Plough’s owner wasn’t in, but have a listen to their candid conversation:
