Robin Gibb
The world lost a great musician when Bee Gees singer, Robin Gibb passed away last night. His passing follows shortly after a 12-day coma resulting from intestinal surgery intended to battle colon and liver cancer. He was aged 62.
Family spokesman Doug Wright, said
The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time.
Out of the original line-up, only Barry Gibb is still alive. Maurice Gibb died on 12 January 2003 of complications resulting from a twisted intestine. At the time, Barry and Robin Gibb retired the group’s name after 45 years of activity. In 2009, however, Robin announced that he and Barry had agreed that the Bee Gees would re-form and perform again.
To give one an idea of how big these guys were/are, check out their Hall of Fame citation:
Only Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks and Paul McCartney have outsold the Bee Gees.
