I was reclining on the deck of the Safehouse the other day, enjoying one of these secret Winter/Summer days that Capetonians tend to keep to themselves when describing our home, for fear of coming across as braggards, taking in the sunset. The ol’ iPod threw out McCully Workshop’s The Buccaneer, which I’ve been known to enjoy, given that my father is the guy shredding the keyboard in this track.
Indeed, he’s the guy shredding the keyboard in all of “The Shop’s” tracks. He’s the handsome guy, on the far left. Just look at the clean Old Spice shave. The jaw glistens, does it not?
That’s my image of him in my formative years, and the sound has aged well.
You can’t hold a candle to that, my friends.
But we all have nuanced memories of our fathers, don’t we?
Father’s day is on Tuesday, June 19. How will let your dad know he’s remembered?
