Isn’t this exciting – one of Britain’s most fantastic pairs, long thought lost to separate endeavours, are busy re-uniting. This is great news for any fans of Dr House, who announced earlier this year that the show is ending. Fry and Laurie made a great comedic duo in the early 90s, and the announcement has been welcomed by many fans.
Yesterday, Stephen Fry made the following announcement on Twitter:
Many people may be shocked to learn that Laurie is, in fact, British – despite his convincing American accent on House.
The two starred together in the sketch comedy show A Bit of Fry & Laurie,which ran from 1989 to 1995 at various time on BBC1 and BBC2. The two men, along with Emma Thompson, met while all attended University of Cambridge. They also had a long run together in Blackadder. UPDATE: Is has since been revealed that they will be combining to provide the voices for Oscar Wilde’s “The Canterville Ghost”. Fry also tweeted a teaser poster:
