For the latest issue of The Cricketer, they asked a large panel of cricket journalists, broadcasters, photographers and fans which cricket pitch is the best to watch Test cricket at. And according to the experts Newlands takes a close second place, only behind Lord’s, the symbolic home of the game.

Grounds from all 10 Test-playing nations were considered, and no other South African venue featured in the top 10 of 26 highlighted. Here is the rest of the Top 10:
