Teko and Ntwaki Modise
It would appear that Bafana Bafana player (and Mamelodi Sundowns captain) Teko Modise has landed himself in a spot of trouble after failing to pay a monthly maintenance to his estranged wife. She now wants him to be held in contempt of court and sent to jail.
Modise is currently R52 000 in arrears after defaulting on a February court order to pay his wife, Ntswaki Felicia Modise. According to court papers he earned about R150 000 a month and amassed wealth from endorsement deals with a deodorant brand and electronics company. He was also an ambassador for a fast-food chain during the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
His wife approached the courts in November after he apparently deregistered their daughter from their medical aid and kicked them both out of their house. According to a report in Cape Times this morning, Modise has until tomorrow to file papers opposing the application. If he does not do so the matter would be set down for a formal hearing in two weeks.
