Not him, but he has made the list before.
One of the reams of lists that Forbes produces each year is a little more light hearted. The Forbes Fictional Fifteen lists the year’s top earners in TV, film and literature. To qualify for the Fictional 15, characters must be known, both within their fictional universe and by their audience, for being rich. Net worth estimates are based on an analysis of the fictional character’s source material, and where possible, valued against known real-world commodity and share price movements.
Here are the top five:
1. Smaug – J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit
Worth: US$62 Billion
Claim to fame: terrorizing Middle-Earth, hoarding gold.
2. Flintheart Glomgold – Disney’s Duck Tales etc.
Worth: US$51,9 Billion
Claim to fame: Stole the title of “world’s richest duck” from arch-nemesis Scrooge McDuck after winning an “around the world” race.
3. Carlisle Cullen – Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga (plus the awesome movies!)
Worth: US$36,3 Billion
Claim to fame: 371 year-old small-town doctor and immortal vampire from the Twilight series
4. Jed Clampett – TV”s Beverly Hillbillies (plus a very ill-considered film outing)
Worth: US$9,8 Billion
Claim to fame: a stray shot while out hunting led to the discovery of an underground well of oil, the establishment of Clampett Oil, and a move to plush Beverly Hills.
5. Tony Stark – Marvel’s Iron Man
Worth: US$9,3 Billion
Claim to fame: former CEO of Stark Enterprises; genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist, and the guy who wears Iron Man’s armored suit.
And the rest? No slouches, even if their riches are fictional:
6. Richie Rich – Harvey Comics titular little rich bastard. [US$8,9 billion]
7. Charles Foster Kane – Titular rich bastard of Orson Welles’ classic 1941 film, Citizen Kane [US$8,3 billion].
8. Bruce Wayne – DC’s Batman, too many film, print and TV outings to name, scared of bats [US$6,3 billion].
9. Forrest Gump – Titular hero of Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 Oscar-winning film, played by Tom Hanks [US$5,7 billion].
10. Lisbeth Salander – That skinny gothic chick from Stiegg Larson’s best-selling Millennium series of books, plus the assorted movie adaptations [US$2,5 billion].
11. Mr. Monopoly – Mascot of one of the world’s best-selling boardgames, currently lives in a dusty cupboard in every house on the planet [US$2,5 billion].
12. Tywin Lannister – Game of Thrones, need I say more? [US$2,1 billion]
13. C. Montgomery Burns – Springfield’s own yellow, balding Charles Foster Kane [US$1,3 billion].
14. Robert Crawley – Earl of Grantham in the amazing British period drama series, Downton Abbey, also has three feisty daughters… [US$1,1 billion].
15. Jo Bennett – Odd choice here, but the billionaire who bought ailing paper company Dunder Mifflin in the sixth series of long-running American sitcom, The Office (#bringbackMichaelScott) [US$1 billion].
All together, these characters that make up the 2012 list boast an aggregate net worth of US $209,5 billion, up an amazing 59% from last year.
