Congrats to our randomly selected winners, Darryn van der Walt and Denise Montanari!
2oceansvibe friend and famed entertainer/frontman of one of SA’s biggest bands, Jeremy de Tolly is launching his debut solo album, and you can be a part of it. The album is nothing even remotely close to the Dirty Skirts sound we all know so well, but is rather a solo ambient piano-only album. The album is entitled Piano Nocturnes Volume One, and features extremely slow and gentle minamalist tracks.
I got hold of a copy and have played it start-to-finish several times – mostly when chilling out on the weekend. I must admit I am a big fan.
Miles Keylock from Rolling Stone, had this to say:
“In cadence, drift and textural detail, this solo debut sits somewhere between classical avante-‐garde composer Erik Satie’s riveting phonometric repetitions and Brian Eno’s ambient “Music For” sedatives… The longer, more somnambulant soundscapes are even more rewarding. By channeling the meditative tintinnabulist tendencies of Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, de Tolly’s arpeggiated segues have enough space to actually swing in the silences.” Rolling Stone magazine, March 2012.
