Ah, when Summer’s lease has all too short a date. Snow on the Matroosberg.
What a wet Easter weekend it was here in the Western Cape! While we all cuddled inside and feasted on heretic hot cross buns watching braver souls brave the storms to run the Two Oceans, it seems the seasons changed over our heads.
Reports came in from the Matroosberg near Ceres of a significant snowfall over the weekend, the first of the season. Traditionally the area attracts the first snowfall as winter sets in across the Western Cape, and this year, the snow was the earliest in three years.
A spokesperson for the private nature reserve reported that tourists had already descended on the slopes to enjoy the snowfall.
Though the rest of this week will be sunny, but crisp, rain is forecast again for this weekend across the Western Cape. Bye bye summer, see you again in November.
Sigh 🙁
