Er, that’s not Andrew Garfield…
One film we’re keeping a beady eye on here at 2oceanVibe towers is the upcoming Spidey reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, set to drop later this year boasting an all star cast, including newbie Brit Andrew Garfield, as Peter Parker, and red-headed minx Emma Stone, sporting blonde locks to play his GF, Gwen Stacy. They even got Martin Sheen and Sally Field in to don the old folks clothes to play Peter’s Uncle Ben and Aunt May respectively! Now that’s star power!
Of course, as we approach the release date in July, the marketing onslaught is going to reach fever pitch. We’ve already seen the poster, and the trailers, but here’s a little something they took from the viral marketing 101 handbook, a seemingly random video they dropped on the web from “Daily Bugle TV,” where Police Captain George Stacy (Gwen’s dad!) rants on about the webbed menace that is plagueing New York, offering a hotline that viewers can call to report sighting of this alleged “Spider-Man”. Awesomely, the number even works! If you make one international phone call today, do pick this one and see what webslinging goodies await you on the other side. We also have a gang of street taggers besmirching New York buildings with the emblem of this vigilante pest! Outrage!
Well played Marvel, well played. The Amazing Spider-Man is out in the States in early July.
