This man stepped up to the plate four years ago, but has he hit a home run since then?
Good grief, has it really been four years since America welcomed its first non-white President into the Oval Office? Indeed it has, and as Obama prepares to fight off the Republicans to keep that office for another four years in November, he released this pretty documentary film as retrospective of his controversial first term. The U.S. auto industry bailout? The capture of Osama Bin Laden? The end of Operation Iraqi Freedom? Obamacare? Take a seat and have a look at The Road We’ve Travelled.
The film was put together by accomplished film-maker Davis Guggenheim, the man responsible for Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth. Tom Hanks provides narration. Of course, given the vitriolic tendencies of American politics at any time, but especially in an election year, the documentary is going to attract a veritable https://www.aldaorg.net/buy-nolvadex/ shit storm of criticism, mostly aimed at the apparent “rose tinted lenses” through which Obama seems to regard the last four years.
Here’s Piers Morgan on his CNN show last night, grilling the film-maker, Davis Guggenheim.
Obama faces an uphill battle this year to remind U.S. voters of all the gains he has made in his first term – and they are unlikely to care that he inherited a hornet’s nest of economic- and socio-political misery from his Texan predecessor.
This documentary will attract criticism for being a little too honey-dipped to appeal to voters who lost their homes, or their jobs, or a child in a desert fracas overseas in the past four years, even though these are all issues the film touches on; but it is at least a thoughtful, well produced opening gambit to what will be a tough political year for the American Democrats.
