The Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans’ Association (MKMVA) has kicked up quite a bit of dust over a statement they’ve made about Julius Malema. They say that if this was still the struggle era, Malema would have been killed by a firing squad for “the way in which he was rude to the ANC leadership.”
Hardcore!
The ANC Youth League is fuming over the remark, and has called on the ANC to take immediate action on the MKMVA for inciting violence. Here is the ANCYL Secretary General, Sindiso Magaqa:
We hope that they [ANC provincial and national leaders] will address these threats with immediate effect because the utterances… are conclusively out of order. Not only is this a misrepresentation of reality and history, but incitement to violence against the league’s leaders. It is not the first time MKMVA leaders in the province had threatened ANCYL members with violence and death. They should retract the statement and apologise. Should they fail to do so, we will take the matter to the Equality Court and the SA Human Rights Commission.
Looks like Malema won’t be receiving a lot of birthday party invites this year…
