Since time immemorial, sports fans have speculated how their favourite stars from different disciplines would fare against one another in a no-holds barred battle. That day has finally come, click through to watch pro-golfer Tiger Woods take on former basketball star Shaquille O’Neal.
Ok, so they’re not really in a ring, adorned in ridiculous armor, wielding medieval weapons, fighting to the death. The video, which has already received over 95 000 hits since being uploaded yesterday, was made to promote the upcoming game, EA Sports’ Tiger Woods PGA TOUR Golf 2013. The video features Tiger Woods as “Crimson Cat” going up against Shaq as “Swinging Giant”, in a classic kung fu showdown, complete with badly dubbed English.
Golf games, like fresh air, are a hard sell to gamers, but EA is making considerable headway with their latest offering. The XBOX Kinect version of the game is the first of its kind in that it allows voice-enabled controller-free gaming. Players will be able to select clubs, replay shots, view replays and even ask the caddy for advice without ever needing a tactile input. As with other Kinect games, full body movements are tracked and EA claims that the game will feature the most advanced virtual golf swing to date, because that’s a hotly contested category. PS3 owners can expect similar features with PS Move.
