I remember a couple years ago The Muse and I were entertaining an Oscar-winning movie star in Cape Town. I specified the Oscar-winning part for you to understand that she has probably had experience with top service and food. So she and her boyfriend were 100% down to earth and we did some cool things, like hike up Lions Head during full-moon. They digged doing the cool normal stuff like that and then the rest of their time in Cape Town was with handlers and chaperones, who were trying awfully hard to show them the “best” Cape Town had to offer. Oh yes, I just remembered they were in town for the opening of a hotel at the Waterfront.
So anyway, they were dragged off to all these over-the-top restaurants and by the end of it they could easily claim to have dined at Cape Town’s “best-of-the-best” restaurants. So anyway they wanted to hook-up before they left and we took them to Caveau Restaurant on Heritage Square. Oh my God, they nearly peed themselves. They couldn’t believe that the people looking after them had never taken them to Caveau.
Seriously guys, you don’t have to try very hard. Caveau is in the heart of Cape Town, has easy parking, and some of the best food Cape Town has to offer.
But don’t believe me, just check out the New York Times bestseller, “1,000 Places To See Before You Die.”
