I give credit when credit is due, and this you have to hear. You see just last weekend I was chilling with The Muse at the Mount Nelson pool (anyone can chill there, as long as you use the Labrisa Spa first – locals get a 25% discount) and we were enjoying some scones and jam, between dips (the water’s heated) – as one does. Unbeknownst to us, some of the jam had spilled into our pool bag, and onto The Muse’s iPhone 4s. Not good.
We discovered the mishap when we had returned home and weren’t worried at first – in fact I quite enjoy my iPhone with jam. Unfortunately the jam had entered into the speaker part of the phone, rendering phone calls useless. Personally, I would have thoroughly enjoyed the outcome, finally giving me an excuse to never make a phone call again. But The Muse does make calls from time to time and we needed to fix the iphone.
So I contacted Apple Doctor (appledoctor.co.za) on the Monday morning, having been told by a friend that they fix iPod, fix iPad and fix iPhone. I chose their courier option and the phone was fetched within one hour.
I went back to saving the world and healing sick children with the help of supermodels, and completely forgot about the phone. I sauntered into the 2oceansvibe Media Compound later that day and spotted the above box on Little Jen’s desk.
“These guys dropped off this box,” Little Jen noted.
“Don’t talk shit,” I replied – not believing that the work could have been done that quickly.
“I’m not,” she confirmed.
I rushed upstairs to my den of safety and opened the box.
“Oh, my good Lord,” I yelped, as I realised that Apple Doctor had changed iPhone, iPod and iPad repairs forever. Not only did they collect and deliver the device, but they also give you an opening ceremony, letting you peel off plastic and bubble wrap. And I tell you what – it felt like the very first time…
That’s when I realised nothing would ever be the same again. And I wondered to myself if this was a good thing. Because now, if I see my iPhone or iPod or iPad about to fall on the ground, and I know I have a moment’s chance to save it from falling, will I? Am I going to start dropping my devices on purpose, just so I can experience the opening ceremony again? Would that be wrong of me?
It just feels so good.
The fact that they fixed it in record time is a sideshow – these guys offer the full experience.
Do yourself a favour and contact appledoctor.co.za the next time your iPod or iPhone or iPad needs a repair.
Or, better yet – drop your iPod on the ground until it breaks – just so you can experience these guys. It’s worth it – I promise 😉
